Smell Younger with a Grapefruit Scent
The scent of grapefruit on women makes them seem younger to men. But, when men wear the fragrance of grapefruit, there is no effect on women.
The Associated Press published a story in June 2005, about a study conducted at The Smell and Taste Institute in Chicago to determine what makes a woman smell younger than her age. This study included several middle-aged women using the scents of broccoli, banana, spearmint leaves, and lavender to illicit a response in men.
The scent of grapefruit was the only scent that remarkably changed men’s perceptions. When male volunteers were asked to write down how old the woman with grapefruit scent was, the age was considerably less than the women’s actual age.
