HomeSpaLady: How to Heal the Heart at Home
Christopher Reeves’ widow Dana has lung cancer. Age 44, never smoked.
The causative factor of disease is unknown say the medical experts, because Dana is not the typical profile.
Or is she?
Dana lost her husband last year, and six months ago Dana’s mother died of complications of surgery. I wonder if there are any studies done on how much cancer (especially lung and breast - heart chakra areas) is diagnosed following serious losses - especially of loved ones?
Those of us who immersed in Energy Medicine have an understanding how disease first shows up in the energy field as a disturbed pattern, before physical manifestation. My training as a healer - through the Barbara Brennan School of Healing Science, Healing Touch, and with Caroline Myss - has taught me to look at Dana’s situation for example, and see that her recent life events would surely contribute to even the potential of this!
If one needs (physical) science to support this - look at psychoneuroimmunology.
Nevertheless - what can we do?
What can we do to prevent this? - how much of our own involvement may help heal this once diagnosed?
How many people got scared learning this news? I know it startled me!
One of my main concerns after losing both of my parents within 18 months was how it was going to affect my health. I have a friend who lost her husband the same week my mother died. We shared our loss and grief together. Within a year she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
When affected by great losses, the heart chakra - which is like a delicate flower - can shrivel, contract, distort, close, and cut off life force and necessary chi - to protect itself from feeling more of the pain of the loss. What we can do - is allow ourselves to feel the pain, the loss, and the grief - let it move through and out so the healing chi can move in.
One way that we can support and hepl heal the heart - is to take your hands and place them over the heart - holding this position for at least 10 minutes -and allow the flow of emotions without any input from the mind! Do this twice a day. To really enhance the effects of this simple yet powerful treatment, add the essential oil of Lavender - to either your hands, or your heart chakra. (please don’t use a perfume grade oil here - you know my choice). I also love using Idaho Balsam Fir. I think that this particular tree holds the energy of the heart chakra so well - I always feel ‘love’ when I use this oil.
Don’t ever underestimate the healing power that lies within your own hands.
